The art of wearing perfume

Applying perfume is a daily ritual, almost second nature. Yet, to allow the full richness of a scent to unfold, a few simple techniques can make all the difference. Here is a brief guide to the art of application, to help your fragrance become a true second skin.

Skin:
The Ultimate Canvas for Expression

A fragrance never reveals its full potential more beautifully than when it touches the skin. Its longevity and evolution depend on several factors: your body temperature, your pH levels, and, above all, hydration. Well-hydrated skin holds fragrance molecules much more effectively, ensuring a longer-lasting scent trail.

The Perfect Gesture:
Spray to Enhance

Spray your Kerzon fragranced water directly onto the skin in a fine mist, from about 15–20 cm away.

The ideal moment? Just after showering, while your body heat is still lingering.

Pulse Points:
Natural Diffusers

Certain areas of your body naturally diffuse fragrance better because they are warmer. These are the famous pulse points, where the blood flows closest to the skin's surface:

- The neck and the nape of the neck
- Behind the ears
- The inside of the wrists
- The hollow of the elbows and even behind the knees.

The heat from these zones helps the notes unfold gradually, creating a subtle sillage that reveals itself with every movement.

Let the fragrance breathe:
avoid rubbing

Avoid rubbing your wrists together after application. While this is a common habit, it "crushes" the molecules and causes the top notes to evaporate prematurely.

Simply spray and let your skin delicately absorb the fragrance to fully enjoy the evolution of its notes.

For a change of pace:
on your clothes

While the skin remains the most personal canvas for expression, textiles are powerful allies in extending the life of your fragrance. Fibers hold notes wonderfully well, offering a scent trail that can last for several days.

Our advice: For a sillage that follows you faithfully, spray your perfume on your sweaters, jackets, scarves, or coat lapels. The motion should be light and airy, always from a distance (about 20 cm).

A Tailor-Made Sillage:
Create Your Own Signature

Rather than following a rigid set of rules, learning to wear a fragrance is, above all, about learning to create your own unique sillage.

Depending on the desired intensity, you can choose to concentrate the spray on a single pulse point for a more intimate, "skin-scent" effect, or create a fragrance cloud in front of you for a more diffuse and airy presence.

The number of sprays becomes your personal dial:

- For an Eau de Toilette, two to four sprays allow you to adjust between a light or more pronounced presence.

- For an Eau de Parfum, as the concentration is higher, a more targeted application on one area (one to two sprays) ensures an elegant presence throughout the day.

The Secret of Rotation:
Awaken Your Sense of Smell

Ever feel like you can no longer smell your own perfume?
This is called olfactory adaptation.

By rotating your favorite scents, you prevent your brain from getting too used to them. Switching between different fragrances allows you to rediscover the nuances of each one and keeps your olfactory signature fresh every single day.
